The ADMIRED project is an ambitious initiative aiming to revolutionise the management of Bipolar Disorder (BD) through the integration of digital technologies, AI-driven analytics, and proactive interventions. It seeks to shift the current symptom-triggered healthcare approach to a more efficient, predictive, and personalised strategy. The project’s core is to develop an integrated biomedical solution that significantly enhances the quality of life for BD patients and their support networks by reducing the occurrence of relapses and hospitalisations, thus
also aiming to decrease the direct and indirect costs associated with the disease.
The ADMIRED solution comprises several key components:
- Electronic Health Data Acquisition System (EHDAS) for continuous patient monitoring.
- Mobile App for ongoing BD management.
- AI-driven services to predict patient relapses in advance, with a mobile app to alert caregivers about these predictions.
- Web-based software for medical decision-making.
Through continuous monitoring and AI-driven predictive analytics, ADMIRED anticipates individual patient relapses, enabling timely interventions. This project is a collaboration among technical, research, medical, social science, and NGO entities, ensuring a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach. It plans to reach TRL 9 status, qualifying it as a Class IIa medical device under the EU MDR 2017/745, and is designed to be offered as a Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) solution.
The project aligns with the current market scope and demand for digital telemedicine solutions, focusing on mental health and BD management. ADMIRED’s approach marks a significant shift towards value-based P4 medicine (Predictive, Preventive, Personalised, and Participatory), aiming to improve the lives of millions worldwide aƯected by BD. It encapsulates the potential to become a key player in the BD niche market, leveraging the increasing awareness and prevalence of mental health issues to
secure a promising growth opportunity.
This summary highlights ADMIRED’s innovative approach towards BD management, combining digital technologies and AI analytics for proactive healthcare interventions, oƯering mental health
professionals a comprehensive view of its objectives, components, and potential impacts on patient care and the healthcare system at large.
