Network Rail £50m overhead line electrification
Network Rail has put contractors on notice for the £50m overhead line renewal between Fenchurch Street and Pitsea.
The MK1 contract will renew 150kms of line between Fenchurch Street and Pitsea and is part of a larger project that will renews 219kms of line.

HS2 compound designs released
A 30-acre brownfield site near Birmingham Washwood Heath will become home to a control centre, staff building & maintenance centre. The three buildings will have solar panels, use rainwater runoff and use low carbon materials and will be used to service, clean, maintain and store trains for the HS2 network.

Volker Fitzpatrick gets £59m Tame Valley viaduct
Volker Fitzpatrick have been awarded £59m to upgrade the Tame Valley viaduct by Birmingham City Council. The four and a half year project will start this month on the 620m long viaduct ‘Spaghetti junction’ which was built in the 1970s to reinforce the northern end with steel plates to improve safety and refurbish deteriorated parts. The viaduct carries 80,000 vehicles per day.
